A Quiet Morning in the Mountains
Early morning mist floated between the tall pine trees of a quiet mountain road.
Wildflowers grew along the rocky roadside while the forest remained calm and silent.
Then something unusual appeared on a flat stone beside the road.
A large reddish-brown owl lay tangled in a green fishing net.
Its wings were trapped tightly.
Beside the helpless bird stood two small fluffy owl chicks.
The chicks looked frightened and confused as they stayed close to their parent.
The Chicks Try to Help
The tiny owls did not leave their parent alone.
They pecked gently at the net with their small beaks, trying to free the trapped owl.
But the fishing net was too strong.
No matter how hard they tried, the net would not move.
Meanwhile, a green pickup truck slowly drove along the winding forest road.
The driver had not yet noticed the scene beside the rocks.

Someone Notices
As the truck approached, the driver suddenly slowed down.
A wildlife ranger was behind the wheel.
From the road, he noticed movement near the rocks.
When he looked closer, he immediately understood the situation.
A trapped owl.
And two frightened chicks trying to help.
The ranger quickly parked the truck and stepped out with his rescue bag.

A Careful Rescue
The ranger slowly approached the owl so it would not panic.
Kneeling beside the rock, he carefully examined the fishing net tangled around the bird’s wings.
Using small rescue scissors, he began cutting the net piece by piece.
The owl chicks stood nearby watching closely.
The ranger worked slowly and calmly to avoid hurting the owl.
Freedom at Last
After several careful cuts, the final piece of the net fell away.
The owl gently spread its wings.
For a moment, the bird tested its movement.
The wings worked again.
The two chicks quickly moved closer to their parent.

A Peaceful Ending
The reddish-brown owl now stood proudly on the rock.
Its wings partially opened in the warm forest sunlight.
The two owl chicks stayed safely beside it.
Nearby, the wildlife ranger quietly watched to make sure everything was safe.
The forest returned to its peaceful silence.
But for the owl family, the morning had nearly ended very differently.
Sometimes all it takes is one person stopping at the right moment to save a life.
