A Cruel Moment on the Street
It was a bright afternoon on a busy city sidewalk.
People walked past cafés and small shops while traffic moved slowly along the street.
Near the corner of the block sat a small stray dog.
The dog had built a tiny shelter from cardboard boxes beside a wall.
In front of it stood a simple metal food bowl.
The dog looked thin and tired.
Its ribs were slightly visible beneath its dusty fur.
It waited quietly, hoping someone might leave a little food.
Suddenly a young man walked down the sidewalk.
He wore expensive clothes and carried himself with obvious arrogance.
As he passed the dog, he noticed the small bowl.
Instead of ignoring it, he suddenly kicked it across the pavement.
The bowl rolled loudly across the sidewalk.
The dog jumped back in fear.
The man laughed.
Walking Away Proudly
The young man seemed pleased with his cruel joke.
He laughed loudly and continued walking down the street.
The stray dog slowly approached the empty bowl again.
Its eyes followed the man carefully.
But the dog did not bark.
It simply watched him leave.

Heading to the Car
The man soon reached the parking area nearby.
A shiny car waited beside the curb.
Still smiling about what he had done, he opened the car door.
As he climbed inside, something slipped from his pocket.
His wallet quietly fell onto the pavement behind the car.
The man didn’t notice.
But someone else did.
From the corner of the street, the stray dog had followed him.
And now the dog saw the wallet lying on the ground.
The Dog Takes the Wallet
The dog quickly ran forward and grabbed the wallet with its mouth.
At that exact moment, the arrogant man stepped backward beside his car.
But the pavement was wet.
His shoe hit a small puddle.
Suddenly his feet slipped.
The man lost his balance and fell hard onto the muddy street.
People nearby stopped and stared.
His expensive clothes were now covered in dirt.
The dog ran past him holding the wallet.
A Different Kind of Person
The dog continued running back down the sidewalk.
Near the corner sat a homeless man who often spent his days there.
The dog approached him and dropped the wallet on the ground.
The man looked surprised.
Then he noticed the dog’s empty bowl.
Without hesitation, the homeless man reached into his bag and pulled out some food.
He placed it gently into the dog’s bowl.
The hungry dog immediately began eating.
