A Quiet Morning on the Street
Early in the morning, the city streets were still calm.
Most people were still inside their apartments, and only a few cars passed quietly along the road. The sky was beginning to brighten as the sun slowly rose above the buildings.
On one narrow street near several apartment blocks, a garbage truck stopped beside a large green trash container.
Two sanitation workers wearing bright orange uniforms stepped out of the truck to begin their usual routine.
Every morning they followed the same route, collecting trash from the neighborhood containers before the city became busy.
It was a normal job they had done many times before.
But that morning was about to become very different.
As the workers approached the container, they noticed something unusual.
A stray dog stood directly in front of the trash bin.
The dog barked loudly and refused to move away.

The workers carefully reached into the container.
One by one, they gently lifted the two small puppies out of the trash bin.
